First time Hydroponic Garden?

I have been looking at setting up a Hydroponic Garden in my outside laundry too grow some vegetables but I'm not sure where I should start. I have talked to some local shops that specialize in it so I have a rough idea but if anyone out there has some first hand experience I'd appreciate the feedback. I'm thinking 2 pots, feed rings, tank, pump in a run to waste system using coco as a medium. I was going to grow either strawberries and lettuce or lettuce and hops. Was thinking of starting with natural light, manual ventilation from outside. I don't see the temperature dropping too low, im in SA so the chance of frost where I'm at is virtually 0.
