Ventilation Louvres

Are there any plants that would flourish in a cellar?

I want to make my cellar - which has no natural daylight or ventilation -an attractive place to be and would love a few plants to pep things up. Does anyone know of any plants (not mushrooms please!) that would flourish in these conditions? I don't want plastic either! Cheers

  1. Ferns perhaps or cannabis
  2. Rubber plants and Peace Lillies are both tolerant of low light areas.
  3. Plants need light, there is no getting away from that.
  4. You can only grow plants in light. It's possible to buy daylight light bulbs or grow-lights which you'd need to have hanging over the plants and switched on at least 12 hours a day. Is it really worth it? If so you can buy these lighting systems at places that specialise in hydroponics.
  5. You can give this a try. The ZZ plant, I have one. Everyone loves it. They will tolerate almost any conditions. http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/12300/
