gable vents that let in sun light ?

I have a dark attic and i want to bring in light. i thought about taking the vents out and installing windows but i need to vent the attic and i dont really want to bother with a ridge vent. so is there a gable vent that i can put in that i can adjust to let in light ?

1. The have the gable vents with louvers pointing downwards. Not very good for light. Ever think about those battery opening lights that you push on and push off? Cannot have a electrical light and could cause a fire. It too dangerous and it is illegal.
2. You can have electrical lights in your Attic Ken H is talking out of but. there is nothing illegal or dangerous. I would not alter the vent system in your residents. There needs to be cross ventilation in you attic - It will also increase the life of your shingles. I would consider having an electrician install some lights mounted below the rafters. You maybe able to tap off an existing circuit already in your attic - depends and the current available and the amount used on a circuit - that would be allot cheaper than an entire new circuit.
